 Swine Flu Vaccine

There has been so much controversy about the N1H1 Swine Flu vaccine, I was wondering what you opinions are.

I voted No, but would be unable to give you pros or cons. I just avoid vaccines unless they are mandatory. Hate needles, and hate substances that I do not trust being put into me. :P

I think it's a good idea to do it if you are 'at risk'. Even if you are not at risk. But there is so little flu vaccine to go around, I am more than happy to let others have my share.

I voted no.

I've only had the flu shot once in my life and I ended up being more sick that year than any other year without it. It is very clear when you get the flu shots that it is not covering every strand of flu virus out there, so since no one can tell me that it will actually work on the virus I could get... I'm not getting the shot.

As for the H1N1 flu... this flu strand is more hyped up by the media than it really needs to be.
The doctors even admit that they aren't testing people for the H1N1 when they come in complaining about the symptoms. The tests cost $250 each and with so many people thinking they have it, the doctors just say yeah, you have it and give them some prescription that probably does the same thing as the over-the-counter stuff. When my son was sick a few weeks back, I did call the clinic and was told by the nurse that the only thing the sick people can really do is get lots of rest, drink lots of water, and take over-the-counter cold/flu medications.

You always see flu deaths in the newspapers and on television, but people can die from complications of ANY flu virus. Everyone just needs to take better care of themselves by taking vitamins, eating healthy, wash hands often, and most importantly STAY HOME when you are sick. If everyone did this last one, the virus would have no place to go and would not be spread further into the environment.

I get the seasonal flu shot every year, have never had a problem, and the few times that I have ended up getting the flu, it was a very mild case.

I agree with tam, there has been way too much hype about the H1N1
flu, it makes me suspicious ;D

See...I just have a feeling that is exactly what would happen to me. I think what I need to do is just focus on nutrition and getting myself so healthy that sick germs do not 'stick'. ;D

Let me just add here...
When I say STAY HOME when you are sick, it also means call and reschedule people who may be coming to work in the home that your are occupying while sick with the cold/flu. These people may include repair men, postal service employees, and cleaning people. NONE of these people want to catch what you have and spread it to their families, co-workers, or any of the other customers who may have contact with them that day.

Oh... and cleaning and disinfecting EVERY germ that comes into contact with your home and body is NOT exactly a good thing either. You body actually needs those germs to build up an immune system so that it can fight off some of those viruses that you come in contact with. So don't over-react with the cleaners. :)

It's just a scare tactic. ::)
If you are reasonably healthy -
it won't get ya bad.
It's the people that have underlying health conditions that suffer.
People that go and "disinfect" everything around them -
do not build up any immunity to anything
and when something does get in -
it gets them the hardest too.
It is good to be somewhat exposed so you can build a "good Army" inside to
fight off the "bad Army".
Eat right :P - take PLENTY of Vit. C ;)- (anti oxidant - especially smokers :o) and for gosh sakes -
SLEEP WELL! ;D

And eat well. Don't let your blood sugar crash. If it happens, for goodness sake, don't fix it by eating a CANDY BAR!
